Contents

Axis Powers

The Axis Powers group of characters consists primarily of Germany, Italy, and Japan, who are also the protagonists of the series. The representations of countries also part of the historical Axis powers, such as Hungary, make additional appearances.

Italy (Veneziano)

Italy (イタリア,伊太利亜 Italia?) is the primary protagonist and the title character, is a bright, energetic and sweet young man. In the series, he is depicted at various points as the infant grandson of the Roman Empire, and is recognized as the weakest character in the series, and as a carefree and cowardly soldier who often depends on Germany to resolve issues. His artistry and love of pasta and pizza are references to Italian culture. He uses his adorable ways and cute face to charm girls he meets. He is portrayed as a "loveable loser".[1]

Italy represents the northern half of the country of Italy, whilst his older brother represents the southern half. Hence, their full character names are Italy Veneziano and Italy Romano. In the anime series, both Veneziano and Romano are voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese. In English, Veneziano is voiced by Todd Haberkorn[2] and Romano is voiced by Ian Sinclair. Young Italy, known as Chibitalia, is voiced by Aki Kanada in Japanese and Brina Palencia in English.

Germany

Germany (ドイツ,独意志 Doitsu?) Ludwig is a hard-working, efficient, bureaucratic, and serious character. In the series, Germany is primus inter pares among the Axis Powers, and takes responsibility for the training of Italy and Japan. He is portrayed as a tsundere character.[1] He is tall, well-built, with blond hair and blue eyes(a reference to the Ayran race) and mostly wears military fatigues, uniforms, or formal wear. He is very aggressive around Italy and Japan (axis friends), but sometimes he shows a sweet side. Another aspect of his character is his relative inexperience with relationships, leading him to be very by-the-book as a result of the belief that things will go wrong if he does not follow instructions to the letter. Despite this, as the series progresses, he forms a close friendship with Italy. He notes at one point that he had a "crazy boss", a reference to the historical figure of Hitler. Also, all he drinks (usually) is beer. In the anime series, he is voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto in Japanese and Patrick Seitz in English.[2]

Japan

Japan (ニホン,日本 Nihon?) is a reclusive and hard-working character. He seems to have a problem with others being in his personal space, for he gets uncomfortable if anyone touches him or gets too close. In the series, he is shown to be inexperienced with the Western world, and prone to culture shock; but he also finds fascination in the ways of other nations since he takes photographs of cultural oddities in other countries' lands. A young man, his character design features dark brown eyes and black hair, common physical traits among Japanese people; and has the attire of an Imperial Japanese Naval officer. He often tries to adopt the cultures of other countries he meets such as France, or when other countries meet him such as America. He senses the mood and refrains from speaking. Generally quiet, he is often depicted with the attitude of a businesslike old man. In the anime series, he is voiced by Hiroki Takahashi in Japanese and Christopher Bevins in English.[2]

Allied Forces

The Allied Forces group consists primarily of the characters America, Britain, France, Russia, Canada, and China. These characters are often depicted as comically failing to reach consensus in their war meetings. The representations of countries that were also part of the historical Allies of World War II, such as Canada, make additional appearances.

America

America (アメリカ,亜米利加 Amerika?) is an energetic and headstrong character. In the series, he was a feral child-nation found and raised by England, then later grows distant of him which eventually leads to him fighting for his independence. America is very similar in appearance to his younger brother, Canada, who is often mistaken for America and was seen "invisible" by other nations, including America. He has a mix of brown-blond hair, vivid blue eyes, has glasses (representing Texas),a noticeable hair antenna representing "Nantucket", wears a US Army Air Force officer's uniform, and a vintage leather flight jacket. He is the self-proclaimed leader of the Allied Forces, and his catchphrase is "I'm the hero!" His ideas for solving international problems are often absurd, but he is usually oblivious to the opinions of others. America's ideas and inventions are grand, but rarely go anywhere. He is often portrayed as loud, obnoxious, egocentric, immature, and sticking his nose into other people's business with little regard for whom his actions affect or just what they might be; he is also shown to be somewhat dumb as he can't even identify his own country on a map. Yet despite his misgivings, he is shown to be a kind-hearted person who cares deeply for his friends, always tries to help other people as well as make good relations with other countries, and he always has a cheerful and contagious happy-go-lucky attitude, making him very likable to be around with and one of the most popular characters.

He is a brave adventurer and natural explorer, wanting to try things no one has ever done before, and he usually spends his free time either eating indulgently or making movies. He can't sit idly for too long due to his hyperactiveness, which also gives a short attention span; and has a fascination of superheros which he aspires to be one himself as the world's policeman (contributing to his use of his catchphrase). His one crippling phobia is the fear of ghosts, which is at odds with his friendly acquaintance with a grey alien named Tony, who lives in his house. America is frequently seen clutching a hamburger or eating while speaking, yet he is self-conscious of his unhealthy habits and tries several yet ineffective diets to stay healthy. He also has uncanny superhuman strength, being able to lift objects several times his size. In the anime series, he is voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi in Japanese and Eric Vale in English, both of whom also voice Canada.[2] As a child, America is voiced by Ai Iwamura in Japanese and Luci Christian in English.

England

England (イギリス,英格蘭 Igirisu?), also known as the United Kingdom or Britain, is a tsundere character. In the series, he is depicted as an irritable young man. A former pirate, he is now a cynical and sharp-tongued gentleman. Some of his notable character traits include terrible cooking skills, foul mouth, arrogance, the ability to see supernatural creatures (imaginary friends, that are seen when he is drunk), and ability to perform magic curses on his enemies. Britain is most antagonistic towards France, with whom he shares a long rivalry; and America, his former charge who left him from his overbearing control of him, but he is shown to still care about him and even feels sorrow for being repended by him. He is usually recognised for his large eyebrows, spiky blond hair, green eyes, and his RAF officer's garb. In the English release of the anime, when asked why they opted to choose the name "Britain" over "England", Funimation explained that it was a request from the Japanese studio, since the country's official name is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.[3] Tokyopop, the English publisher of the manga, refers to him as "England."

In one strip England notes that he has an older brother named Scotland.[4] Himaruya has confirmed that the character represents the UK and England, while Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are his siblings.[5] In the anime series, his seiyū is Noriaki Sugiyama and his English voice actor is Scott Freeman.[2]

France

France (フランス,仏蘭西 Furansu?) is a romantic, carefree character. In the series, he is shown to have a long-held rivalry with Britain. He frequently makes sexual passes at many characters, including England. France explains away his long history of military defeats as a joke from God, but he believes he is gifted with his "charms" and his supreme cooking skills. He regards himself as the eldest brother among the European nations and is referred to as such by some of them, though he calls Spain his elder brother in turn. Most of the time he does not bother remembering to speak English, instead using French, the 'Language of Love'. He has long blond hair, clear blue eyes, and usually wears a purple cathedreal cloak, and sometimes he doesn't wear clothes at all. He is often depicted with a rose, holding it in his hand or covering his groin. In the anime series, he is voiced by Masaya Onosaka in Japanese and J. Michael Tatum in English.[2]

Russia

Russia (ロシア,露西亜 Roshia?) is a Yandere character. He is the tallest of all the nations (a reference to the fact Russia is the largest country in the world). He has white hair, grey eyes, a large nose, wears a thick winter coat and a silk scarf. Russia has a kind face, but has mentally cracked from the strain of his bloody history, and as a result he has the innocence and cruelty of a child; sometimes he casts an aura of pure evil around him whenever such malicious thoughts enter his mind. The other nations are terrified of him, especially the Baltic Nations (Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia), whom he loves to abuse physically and emotionally. Occasionally, he stalks China, while in a panda costume; and he holds a subtle rivalry with the western nations, especially America. His primary target of resentment is General Winter, because despite using the cold to his advantage in war, he is also attacked by him every year.

Russia also has two sisters: his older sister, Ukraine and his younger sister, Belarus. He becomes gloomy and depressed when either of them is on his mind because Ukraine left him to try and make friends in the European Union and Belarus, also a yandere, is obsessed with the idea of forcing him to marry her. She seems to be the only other country which Russia fears. Combined with his sisters and the Baltic states, he had a intertwined marriage between them all known as the Soviet Union. Russia happily promises that eventually "all will become one with Russia". His favorite things are sunflowers and vodka (which he adores so much that he was willing to jump from an airplane with no parachute just to acquire some). Another favorite phrase is "kolkolkol", used when he is angered. Russia is often seen carrying a metal faucet pipe. In the anime series, he is voiced by Yasuhiro Takato in Japanese and Jerry Jewell in English.[2]

China

China (チュウゴク,中国 Chūgoku?) is one of the oldest nations, being depicted as immortal as well as being four thousand years old, and is regarded as the eldest brother among the East Asian nations. He is often depicted with pandas. His boss was introduced as a green Chinese dragon with an intimidating appearance who in reality is quite relaxed and moderate, and is shown to be bullied by China in a comedic way. After his defeat in the Opium War, he became the cook for England and France. He is disturbed by and distrustful of Russia, reflecting the Sino-Soviet Split that actually occurred after the war. His favourite food is actually anything, and as such has certain tastes for things and gets irritated if a food has a certain pattern of tastes. During the fight between the Axis and Allies, he fights Germany and Japan with a Wok (round cooking pan) and ladle, which became his weapon of choice that also serves as a stereotype that China serves good food. He is a big fan of Hello Kitty and tends to end his sentences with the suffix -aru, a Japanese stereotype of how Chinese people speak. However, he replaces the customary -aru with the suffix -ahen, which means opium, when speaking to England, as a reference to the Opium Wars. In the anime series, he is voiced by Yuki Kaida in Japanese and Clarine Harp in English.[2]

Canada

Canada (カナダ Kanada?) is a shy and quiet character with a best friend named Kumajiro, a white bear small enough for him to hold. Although Canada is his master, Kumajiro never remembers Canada's name, as do any of the other countries/nations, and they often mispronounce it as Canadia. He is also commonly mistaken for his older brother, America, much to his annoyance since he shares an almost-exact same appearance with him except Canada has more modest attire, purple eyes, lighter hair, and a single but long stray hair looming over his head in a curl. He is friends with Cuba, who is not immune to confusing him with America. Despite this, once Cuba realizes his mistake he does his best to make it up to Canada, even though he ends up repeating the mistake later. Although America remains oblivious to his brother's dismay of taking the heat for his antics, Canada tells him off sometimes, and at one point he made America cry after berating his faults for 3 hours straight; but despite how much America unintentionally causes him trouble, he still cares for him as a brother and vise versa. Canada was raised by both France and England at different periods in his childhood, which results in him having long hair similar to that of France and having French as a second language. When Canada appears for World Meetings, he is so soft-spoken and unobtrusive that the other countries don't realize he is there, leading to comic situations when the nations realize the omission. In Russia's case, he once did not even notice Canada on a chair and sat upon him. When in pain, he usually whimpers an exclamation involving the word "Maple" (Examples: "Maple-Hockey!" and "Maple leaf!"). In the English version, he is also voiced by Eric Vale.

European countries

Austria

Austria (オーストリア Osutoria?) is an optimistic and elegant-looking young man who has interest in the arts, specifically in the piano. He is mostly known for taking control of Italy after the Italian Wars (present in the Chibitalia parts of the manga/anime) and having Italy serve yet being somewhat of a father figure to him. Austria's relationship with Germany is seen as love–hate since they merged and became allies during World War II but Austria's presence annoyed Germany greatly. He is also known for being an enemy to Prussia whom he lost Silesia to during the War of the Austrian Succession; since then Prussia has mocked and humiliated Austria even for having a female leader. The most notable relationship that Austria has is with Hungary, his ex-wife (their marriage date is exact to the Austro-Hungarian Compromise and the creation of Austria-Hungary). Despite their divorce, Austria and Hungary remain extremely close and she has always protected him from enemies (notably France and Prussia). Austria was once united with Switzerland but they broke apart and they deny their friendship. According to his character notes, Austria does not wear glasses due to bad eyesight but rather for a better appearance; the curly strand in his hair represents Mariazell. Austria is voiced by Akira Sasanuma in Japanese and by Chuck Huber in English, but Aki Kanada voiced him as a child in Japanese.

Spain

Spain (スペイン Supein?) was once very powerful until poverty and war struck but he nevertheless remained optimistic. Spain is shown to be comically incapable of reading the atmosphere and doesn't even bother to try. He has mixed relationships with many characters including France, Belgium, Austria, and Netherlands but his most important is with Romano, Italy's older brother. Romano spent much time under Spain's rule with the queen Joanna of Castile and their relationship was love–hate, Spain was always affectionate but Romano cursed at him constantly. Spain is fond of children which leads to his desire to have both Italies in his house. Spain was very good friends with Austria after the Italian Wars but became his enemy during the War of the Spanish Succession, even though he got Milan, and during the War of the Austrian Succession. Likewise, Netherlands doesn't like Spain at all since Belgium fled to him in order to get her independence, it is said that Belgium however is on good terms with Spain. Spain is voiced by Go Inoue in Japanese and by Dave Trosko in English.

Romano

The older brother of Veneziano, Romano has great respect for Spain, who raised him when he was young, but hates Germany and is openly rude to him. He is depicted as having a tsundere type of personality. He acts tough but is actually quite weak, fearful and hides behind Spain. Romano and Veneziano do not get along well with each other, but he shares his love of girls and pasta. Romano is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese and by Ian Sinclair in English. Chibiromano is voiced by Aki Kanda in Japanese and by Colleen Clinkenbeard in English.

Hungary

Hungary (ハンガリー Hangarī?) was once a nomadic girl, who thought she was a boy, who was picked on by Mongolia and a younger Turkey (then called the Ottoman Empire); she has two ancestors mentioned one simply called Hun, which is possibly a reference to Attila the Hun, and Magyar. After Prussia discovered the fact she was a woman, Hungary decided to settled down and moved in with Austria, eventually becoming a couple and remaining with him until they were forced to separate at the end of World War One. Hungary is known for being somewhat of a mother to Italy and being the only one who knew he was a boy during their time with Austria and Holy Rome and being eccentric. Like Austria, Hungary is a rival with Prussia since she helped Austria out during the war mentioned above and has constantly protected Austria since then and still loves him since he was the only one who showed her respect. It was revealed by Himaruya that Hungary was initially intended to be a cross dressing male character instead of female but was later switch the idea with Poland and also planned to make Hungary more witch-like; she also has a flower in her hair that represents Lake Balaton; on another note it is said that Hungary is the manliest character in the series and is a fujoshi. Hungary is voiced by Michiko Neya in Japanese and by Luci Christian in English.

Poland

Poland (ポーランド Porando?) is an eccentric, selfish, and childish yet cheerful country known for his Nagoya-based valley girl accent. Poland was originally supposed to be female, and Hungary a crossdressing male, but Himaruya switched the two. He is also known for his friendship with Lithuania which represents the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, until Russia, Prussia, and Austria beat them up and divided them in 1795. Poland calls Lithuania Liet, (short for Lietuva, the Lithuanian word for Lithuania). He calls himself a phoenix, which shows how Poland kept rising and rising after being beat down. He is shy around strangers, as shown when he first met Sweden and when he met Lithuania. He can act brave and be outgoing and relaxed in front of strangers, but quickly returns to his usual shy self. Poland isn't as selfish as he once was and over time has become more concerned for others, as shown when he sees Lithuania's bruised back after Lithuania's return from Russia, saying "There's a side to Lithuania I don't know about". Poland is voiced by Kazutada Tanaka in Japanese, Ryan Bijan in English dub of the series, and Joel McDonald in the English dub of the movie.

Netherlands

Netherlands (オランダ Oranda?) (often called Holland) is the older brother of Belgium and Luxembourg. Initial notes described him as a tsundere who is xenophobic and thinks little of using drugs, which may be referencing to the semi-legality of soft-drug consumption in the Netherlands, and is hinted to have a lolicon fetish. Current notes describe him as neurotic and solemn, obsessed with cleanliness and money and doesn't like to be tied up. He has a pet bunny and beat up Finland and Sweden and drove them out of the New World. He has disliked Spain since the 80 years war although he mostly appears in the group formed by Spain, South Italy, Belgium and himself. His formal debut is in vol3 of the manga and Netherlands finally appears with Belgium in episode 94 of the anime. He is voiced by Nobuya Mine in Japanese and by Michael Sinterniklaas in English.

Belgium

Belgium (ベルギー Berugī?) is a character in Hetalia that did not have much development until recently. She is described as the younger sister of Netherlands and the older sister of Luxembourg, thus forming the Low Countries, and is known for her short blonde hair with a ribbon through it. Belgium had a brief appearance in both the first episode and chapter of Hetalia, and she had another appearance in an unaired episode of the World Series, but all of these appearances are non-speaking. Her formal and speaking debut was in volume 3 of the Hetalia manga when she meets with Spain and Romano and her and her brother's profiles are given (Luxembourg's is given later[6]). Belgium finally appears with Netherlands in episode 94 of the anime. Belgium is mostly known for breaking away from her siblings when they tried to unite, but due to different religions and industries Belgium didn't want to join. She is voiced by Eriko Nakamura.

Greece

Greece (ギリシャ Girisha?) is a Mediterranean country. He known for being a pervert and a lover of cats and philosophy. He is often seen with cats due to his country having so many strays, and often has some of the mannerisms of a cat such as sleeping for long periods of time. Due to his country being filled with ruins left by his mother, Ancient Greece, he is unable to develop his country much. His main rivalry is with Turkey, who invaded him. He also has good relations with Japan. Greece is voiced by Atsushi Kousaka in Japanese and by Vic Mignogna in English.

Turkey

Turkey (トルコ Toruko?) is a Mediterranean country who is recognisable by the fact he is usually seen wearing a mask around his eyes. Formerly known as the Ottoman Empire, he has a big rivalry with Greece after he invaded the country. Turkey is described as being, "unnecessarily passionate and uncomfortably friendly". However, despite his jovial personality, Turkey can be stubborn about trivial things."[7] He is also the only country in the world to recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a country, whom he currently has custody over. Turkey is voiced by Takahiro Fujimoto in Japanese.

Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Switzerland (スイス Suisu?) is a xenophobic nation in the Alps, usually depicted in a green military uniform and a white beret. He is permanently neutral in all matters, and is always threatening other nations to get off his land via gunpoint. His only close relationship is with Liechtenstein (リヒテンシュタイン Rihitenshutain?), a small female nation that Switzerland adopted after she fell into poverty after World War One. Liechtenstein is very close to Switzerland, often dressing up like him, and they share the same army. In the film Paint it, White Switzerland and Liechtenstein are the only two nations in the world not affected by the invasion of the Pict because of they are protected by their "barrier of permanent neutrality". Switzerland is voiced by Romi Park in Japanese and John Burgmeier in English. Liechtenstein is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in Japanese and Cherami Leigh in English.

Ukraine and Belarus

Ukraine (ウクライナ Ukuraina?) and Belarus (ベラルーシ Berarūshi?) are Russia's elder and younger sisters, respectively. Both of them cause Russia deep sadness for different reasons. Ukraine, who gave Russia the scarf he now wears, is currently trying to distance herself away from Russia and trying to make friends in Europe. She is also poor and often cannot afford to pay her gas and oil bills to Russia. She also has large breasts to represent her country's agricultural nature, but these give her constant back pains. Belarus, who appears dressed as a maid, is deeply in love with her brother Russia and is constantly trying to get Russia to marry her. Russia, however, finds her scary and thus tries to avoid her. Belarus dislikes anyone else who is near Russia and often threatens other countries with a knife. Ukraine is voiced by Yuki Masuda in Japanese and Lydia Mackay in English, while Belarus is voiced by Urara Takano in Japanese and Monica Rial in English.

The Three Baltic countries

The Three Baltic Countries, Lithuania (リトアニア Ritoania?), Estonia (エストニア Esutonia?) and Latvia (ラトビア Ratobia?) are three Eastern European countries who are dominated by Russia and constantly suffer from his bullying. Lithuania, the eldest, was once a superpower that ruled much of Eastern and Middle Europe with Poland, but their empire collapsed. He has always fought off other countries, including Russia and the Teutonic Knights (the younger version of Prussia). Lithuania is shown to be good friends with both Poland and America, having lived in the latter's house for a while before the Great Depression. He has a crush on Belarus, not noticing when she glares at him and, one time, not even noticing when she broke all of his fingers. Estonia is described as "The wisest of the Baltic brothers and the most lucky as well." He is very high-tech, and is the owner of the strange "mochis", which are small, round, white creatures, each of them being like a certain country, with the four that are usually shown being America, Italy, Canada, and England. Of the three, it is he who tends to stand up to Russia the most. Latvia is the youngest of the three states. He gets bullied the most by Russia due to his blunt nature, but is also the most dependent on him. He is shown to also drink quite a lot of alcohol, despite his young age. Lithuania is voiced by Ken Takeuchi in Japanese and Josh Grelle in English; Estonia by Atsushi Kousaka in Japanese and Mike McFarland in English; and Latvia by Kazutada Tanaka in Japanese and Ryan Reynolds in English.

The Five Nordic Countries

The Five Nordic countries, Norway (ノルウェー Noruu~ē?), Sweden (スウェーデン Suu~ēden?), Finland (フィンランド Finrando?), Denmark (デンマーク Denmāku?) and Iceland (アイス Aisu?) are five North European countries, most associated with Scandinavia. Norway is depicted as a recluse and is revealed to be the brother of Iceland following a DNA test. He is shown to be the only nation other than England to be able to see spirits and magical creatures. He is very annoyed by Denmark, and often overreacts to him, even choking him once.

Sweden appears to be scary and often intimidates those around him, although he is actually friendly. He has a tendency to leave vowels out of his statements, making what he says difficult to decipher. He has a fondness for Finland, calling him "m' wife". He is also the only character confirmed to be homosexual. In the manga, it is shown that he adopts Sealand after buying him on eBay.

Finland is a cheerful nation who has a particular fondness for Christmas because of the belief that Santa Claus lives in Lapland, which is a major region in northern Finland. (In reality, Lapland is actually split in half between Sweden and Finland.) He and Sweden escaped from Denmark's house together, traveling back to their homes together as well. He considers all the Nordics to be brothers, and he and Sweden are shown to be the peacekeepers between them. Denmark is loud, arrogant, and is often seen drinking heavily. He has a fondness for the other Nordics, considering them to be his brothers, especially Iceland and Norway.

Iceland, the younger brother of Norway, is said to have a cool exterior but is hot and passionate inside, a reference to the volcanic nature of the country. He is often seen with a puffin that talks like a Mafia boss. Sweden's name is Berwald Oxenstjärna, while Finland's is Tino Väinämöinen; the other three have yet to receive a name. Norway is voiced by Masami Iwasaki in Japanese and Alex Organ in English; Sweden by Keikou Sakai in Japanese and Robert McCollum in English; Finland by Takahiro Mizushima in Japanese and Clint Bickham in English; Denmark by Hiroshi Shimozaki in Japanese and Montgomery Sutton in English; and Iceland by Ayumu Asakura in Japanese and Jason Liebrecht in English.

Micronations

Sealand

Sealand (シーランド Shīrando?) is unofficially the smallest nation in the world. Dressed in a sailor suit, Sealand is the youngest and smallest character in the series. He was created after England made him, but left him in the middle of the sea and forgot about him.[8] However, nobody recognizes Sealand as a nation in his own right. As a result, he has to try other ways of getting noticed. For example, he once went to a meeting disguised as Canada.[9] In the film Paint it, White, Sealand is shown that he has the ability to run across water and jump great heights, being able to jump from sea-level to his platform in a single leap. He refers to England as "jerk England" or "British jerk." After putting himself up for sale on eBay, he was bought and adopted by Sweden. He is voiced by Ai Orikasa in Japanese and Maxey Whitehead in English.

Seborga

Seborga (セボルガ Seboruga)?) is a micronation resembling and related to the two Italy brothers. Seborga declared his independence many centuries ago but no-one recognises him as a state due to his passive nature. He is even more of a womaniser than Veneziano and Romano. He is usually depicted wearing a green shirt and carrying a rubber inner-tube. He is friendly with Sealand, and is the first to join Sealand's club of micronations. He is also shown to like Wy, commenting that she was cute and that he might hit on her when she gets older.

Wy

Wy (ワイ Wai)?) is a young female micronation residing in Australia. Wy is an artistic character, who tries to act mature. Being a hostile character, she tends to act coldly to other characters, including other micronations, only following them out of boredom. Her main relation is Hutt River, an older, more developed micronation who acts as her senior. Unlike Sealand, she is recognised as a nation by some people, including local towns, but not by other nations. Her behaviour is shown to reflect the philosophy of the Prince of Wy, Paul DuPrat.

Molossia

Molossia (モロッシア Morosshia?) is a teenage male micronation from living in Nevada, United States. While on his own he is calm and enjoys gardening, when in the presence of others Molossia instantly turns aggresive and foul-mouthed. He is often seen swearing and giving middle finger signs to other nations and micronations. He is usually seen wearing a military jacket slung over his shoulders, a gold chain around his neck, and with an unusual hairstyle which is a combination of a mohican and a pompadour.

Hutt River

Hutt River (ハット・リバー Hatto Ribā?) is an adult male micronation living in Australia. He acts as the senior to Wy and is seens as being more developed than the other micronations, living in a clean, organised state and trying to come across as important. For example, he usually only allows someone to speak to him if they own a Rolls Royce, and when visiting him you have to pay a visa costing two Hutt River dollars. He is usually seen wearing a bow tie, a large cloak and a striped sash.

Kugelmugel

Kugelmugel (クーゲルムーゲルさん?) is a young male micronation from Austria, who describes him as being "eccentric". Kugelmugel is obessed with art, and believes that most things are art, including declaring his independence. Thus he is usually seen by other countries running around exclaiming: "It's art! It's art!" He is usually seen wearing a red beret, a waistcoat with a striped shirt and bow tie, shorts, and with long pigtails in his hair.

Ladonia

Ladonia (ラドニア Radonia?) is a young male micronation living with Sweden, but based on the internet. Ladonia is hot-headed, claiming to be powerful enough to take on Sweden, to be extremely popular, and upon meeting the other micronations orders them to obey him, often acting hostile towards Sealand. He is usually seen with a computer or a games console, and can sometimes end up trapped inside computers. Ladonia has paint across his face, and wears a long coat with a golden apple pinned on it.

Other

Ancient Rome

Ancient Rome (ローマ帝国 Rōma Teikoku?), called Grandpa Rome by Italy, but also referenced as Roma Antiqua and Roman Empire, is the grandfather to both Italy and Romano. Like both Italies, Rome is somewhat lazy, gluttonous, and is a womanizer, however Italy seems to take after him more in both appearance and the fact that Rome is somewhat bubble-headed. Rome was somewhat surprised when he discovered that Germany knew of him and admired him which made Rome like him much more. Other relationships that Rome had were with Germania, the grandfather of Holy Rome, Prussia, and Germany who was once his bodyguard but apparently killed Rome later on; also with Ancient Greece, the mother of Greece, and Ancient Egypt, the mother of Egypt, both of whom he fell in love with. He is voiced by Hozumi Gōda in Japanese, and by Christopher R. Sabat in English[10]

Holy Roman Empire

Holy Roman Empire (神聖ローマ Shinsei Rōma), is only seen in the Chibitalia segment of the show. At first, Holy Rome takes Italy and forces him to become part of the empire, but in later episodes Holy Rome breaks apart from Italy when he was conquered by Austria in the Italian wars. Throughout the series, Holy Rome tries to unite him and Italy, and develops a crush on him. It turns out later in the series that Holy Roman Empire thought that Italy was a girl the entire time. He leaves to fight in a war, and then disappears. His fate has not yet been disclosed, although Himaruya has stated that he and Italy will "have a happy ending." There is a long running fan debate about whether or not Holy Rome, after being wounded in a battle by France, lost his memory and was then raised by Prussia, growing up to be Germany. He is voiced by Jun Konno in Japanese and Chris Cason in English.

Prussia

Prussia (プロイセン Puroisen?) is the older brother of Germany and the other States of Germany and is a wild country who constantly fought, mostly with Hungary and Austria, just to get power. He is shown to have white hair, very pale skin, and reddish eyes, very albino-like in appearance. He is no longer his own nation but now lives with Germany after World War II. Prussia is very vain and prideful and often thinks that he is better than the other countries of the world and often calls himself "Awesome Me". His favourite leader of all is Frederich II of Prussia whom he fought for in the Silesian Wars against Austria. As a result, Prussia dislikes Austria and Hungary very much and is almost afraid of Hungary due to their hardships when they were younger, when he was known as the Teutonic Knights. His catch phrase or laugh is along the lines of kesese!! He is voiced by Atsushi Kousaka in Japanese and Jonathan Brooks in English.

Seychelles

Seychelles (セーシェル Sēsheru?) is described as a country girl with a big heart who can sometimes be sloppy. She can't cook on her own and laments over her high cost of living. Her language is a unique type of French, mixing both French and English.

She has made two major appearances in the comic to date. In We're Shipwrecked Too! she is talking about eating fish with France as he decides to go on an "aimless trip to a southern island." In United States of Hetalia 2, it is revealed that the island where both the Allies and Axis have been repeatedly seen/trapped is in fact the island of Seychelles herself. She is voiced by Megumi Takamoto in Japanese.

Cameroon

Cameroon (カメルーン Kamerūn?) is one of the few African countries represented in Hetalia as of June, 2011. He is depicted as a laid-back, athletic man who likes playing soccer with the children in his neighborhood. He is strong and tall with a buzz cut hairdo and a cross shaved into the side of his head. He wears glasses and has a pet lion named Kokolo. During the 2010 Hetalia Christmas Blood-Bath, he was knocked out by an alternate France while retrieving a soccer ball that had been accidentally kicked into a nearby old man's yard. He woke up alongside the other nations and explained his experience with the mysterious figure.

Asian countries

Besides China and Japan, there are 6 main Asian characters being revealed in the series, including South Korea (かんこく 韓国?, Kankoku)、Taiwan (たいわん 台湾?, Taiwan)、Vietnam (ベトナム Betonamu?)、Thailand (タイ Tai?)、Hong Kong (ほんこん 香港?, Honkon) and Macau (マカオ Makao?). South Korea is a wild and energetic teenager who always claims he is "the origin of everything", which annoys Japan and China a lot. He is shown to be very hyper and affectionate, often inappropiately so, such as when he groped both China and Japan's breasts. Taiwan is a fashionable, optimistic and cheerful teenage girl with a strong will, and has many things to worry about recently. She seemed to want to get closer to Japan rather than to China. Vietnam is a ratherly more serious and tougher female. Thailand is a mild young man who always smiles, and is often seen with a little elephant around. Hong Kong is a calm teenage guy with thick eyebrows (due to the UK's curse), and enjoys joking around China. Like Taiwan, he called China "teacher". Macau is seen as a gentle big brother with a pair of glasses.

Mongolia (モンゴル Mongoru?), Tibet (チベット chibetto?) and India (インド indo?) has also appeared for once.

Taiwan is voiced by Yuki Kaida and Hong Kong is voiced by Motoki Takagi in Japanese.
